    E-portfolio Implementation Trial 2009
"Skills recognition using e-portfolios: Hairdressing, a case study using Mahara"
Welcome to the project wiki supporting the 2009 e-portfolio implementation trial, a joint project funded by the Australian Flexible Learning Framework and TAFE NSW - Sydney Institute. It comprises one of 3 projects funded nationally to trial the implementation of an e-portfolio in the VET sector.
The project will work with the hairdressing section at Ultimo college to trial the use of the Mahara online e-portfolio platform to support the existing skills recognition services being offered to students undertaking WRH30106: Certificate III in Hairdressing & WRH40106: Certificate IV in Hairdressing . The section currently delivers both college and work place based skills recognition processes. The section will be supported with resources and professional development from the Workforce Development Unit to utilise a range of technologies and techniques to capture, edit and publish digital media to the Mahara ePortfolio platform which will then be used as evidence in a skills recognition process using the "Skills Express" RPL self assessment tool.
    The project will explore
Mahara as a tool to support and enhance the existing skills recognition process with students
students use of Mahara to create profiles of their content to prospective or existing employers in the form of resumes
a range of digital media for upload or embedding in Mahara the use of Point View Cameras (POV) and camcorders to record evidence
the integration of Moodle and Mahara

    Welcome to NTD Training
    Tafe Courses
NTD Training is an organisation that works with Australian businesses to improve business operation through upskilling the workforce.
Our staff are experts in the field of education and training. We know how to design the best training plan to deliver the best results for your business. Businesses benefit from having more highly skilled workers and the workers are rewarded with greater job satisfaction as well as nationally accredited qualification.
By working closely with businesses we are able to identify skills gaps, design individualised training plans, arrange for industry specific experts to deliver the training and then arrange for the qualifications to be awarded to the graduate.
In most cases the entire training solution is provided at no cost to either the business or the employee. Government funding is available to fully fund the training in many occupational areas. NTD Training staff have the expert knowledge of how to access government funding and training grants. NTD Training provides government funded courses, business courses, business training, business certificate IV, business management courses, sales courses, frontline management certificate IV, business training and more.
